零距离感受:上海托马斯实验学校教学成果体验活动来啦!

  润物无声,花开有意。为了让更多的家长近距离了解孩子的校园学习与生活,上海托马斯实验学校初中部于12月26日举行了教学成果体验活动。本次活动分为校内体验和线上直播两种方式,“零距离”体验上海托马斯课堂的专业性与多元化,感受生发着青春故事的校园文化。虽然,正值上海的寒冬,但家长们的到来给校园增添了暖意。

  In order to let more parents get a closer look at students' school learning and life, Shanghai Thomas Experimental School Middle School held a teaching achievement experience activity on December 26. This event is divided into two methods: on-campus experience and online live broadcast.

  At the beginning of the event, Principal Jiang and Principal Zhou gave a detailed introduction from “Why Choose Thomas” to show the life of students on campus.A comprehensive and detailed introduction by the principals and teachers of the Middle School allowed parents to understand clearly the philosophy and purpose of the STS Middle School, the school’s educational resources, and the “one axis and two wings” curriculum system.

  Excellent education concepts cannot be separated from teachers' practice inside and outside the classroom. Teacher Guo Jing, Chinese subject group leader, Lu Mingjuan, English subject group leader, and Nikola (STEM teacher) gave a full display of the new style of teaching in the Middle School.

  语文课程丰富充实的古诗文拓展、双管齐下的精读泛读、诗意盎然的日记创作、静心领悟的一文三改、激趣突破的课前演讲、因事悟理的辩论采访、多育并举的剧本展演、形式多样的特色作业等等无一不体现了托马斯教学的“全人教育”原则。在宣讲中,翰林诗社的“小诗人”们意气风发地朗诵了热情洋溢、充满想象力的原创诗歌:《青春》《咖啡店在云上》《胜利》等,小诗人们的激情感染了台下的老师和家长们。

  Chinese courses include a range of activities: a substantial expansion of ancient poems, intensive and extensive reading, poetic diaries, three revisions of one essay, pre-class lectures with exciting breakthroughs, debate interviews based on facts and reason, and multi-educational script exhibitions. These and various forms of homework all embody the “holistic education” approach of teaching here at Thomas. In the lecture, the “little poets” of the Hanlin Poetry Club recited enthusiastic and imaginative original poems such as “Youth”, “Coffee Shop on the Cloud”, “Victory”, and others.

  英语教学融语言、思维、文化为一体,从语义内容和语言特点等多元视角深入解读语篇,不仅以思维导图梳理文本脉络,更以多元视角培养学生高阶思维,促成学科核心素养的形成。随着陆老师的介绍,高潮迭起的舞台还迎来了托马斯学生戏剧团表演的经典英文剧《仲夏夜之梦》,小演员们用流利的英文传情达意,将诙谐幽默的戏中戏展现得淋漓尽致。背后都体现出校园环境和文化赋予给孩子们的教育契机,STS老师们的演绎“一生一方案、因材施教”的耐心教育和智慧管理,体现“尊重,公平,激活,共生”育人理念。

  English teaching integrates language, thinking, and culture. It not only uses mind maps to sort out the context of the text, but also cultivates students' higher-order thinking from multiple perspectives, and promotes the formation of core literacy of the subject . With the introduction of Mrs. Lu, the climax of the stage also ushered in the classic English drama “A Midsummer Night's Dream” performed by students from the Drama Club. STS teachers’ interpretation of “a plan for a student, teaching students in accordance with their aptitude” embodies the education concept of “respect, fairness, activation, and symbiosis”.

  随着Nikola老师的介绍,家长们走进了STS的 STEAM特色课程以及PBL项目式学习, 3D打印机、智能机器人、最具创意的智能编程、学生电视台......各种酷炫的项目,互动媒体艺术STS应有尽有;外教们教授的PBL项目式学习和生物、化学、物理的多学科融合课程使学生们的实验探究角度精彩多样。学生自己亲手设计和制作的节能环保住宅令人印象深刻。双师教学也能让学生真正感受“修德、立人、行世界”和“双师、双语、双文化”的内涵与真谛。

  Foreign teacher Nikola introduced STS’s STEAM special courses and project-based learning, 3D printers, intelligent robots, the most creative intelligent programming, student TV stations, and so on. Co-teaching also allows students to experience the true meaning of being virtuous, scholarly, and globally engaged.

  百闻不如一见,六年级韩秋忆家长的爸爸娓娓道来了孩子这一学期在STS所经历的奇妙变化,课前预习习惯、阅读习惯、作业习惯、孩子的学习主动性和兴趣爱好都发生了积极的变化和提升,如今的变化,我只能用“高兴”二字来形容了”韩爸爸欣慰地说到。教育无小事,韩爸爸分享的每一个细节背后都体现出STS老师们的育人耐心和热情。发挥“小班化优势”关注到每一个学生的脉搏,训练到每一个学生英语口语和技能提升,激活学生求知欲和内在潜能,给每一个学生适合的发展路径,真正做到“全人教育”是初中部每一位老师的共识。

  Han Qiuyi’s father from sixth grade spoke about the wonderful changes the child has experienced in STS this semester. In view of the positive changes and improvements he said, “I can only use the word “happy” to describe the changes nowadays.” He mentioned the “small class advantage” which help train each student to improve their oral English and skills, stimulate students' curiosity, and develop their inner potential.

  课堂之外,学部的管理又是如何展开的呢?在表现性评价中,学校重视学生在每节课和每个课程活动中的表现,比如态度,活动表现,和笔记等;在结果性评价中,重视学生在课程中产出的结果,如考试,报告和展示等;在过程性评价中,重视学生的进步,成长,变化和发展。这就是STS的融合课程的评价方式:重视过程和方法,突出品质和思维的培养,使用多元的评价主体,多维的评价内容,多样的评价方法,注重个性化发展和实时评价。严格落实的”一生一档案”制度,将对学生的关怀和”全人教育”真正贯彻始终。

  As for evaluation, the school pays attention to students’ performance in each class and each activity; in evaluating results; it attaches importance to the results of students’ output in the courses, in the process evaluation, and helps improve the progress, growth, change and development of students. This is the evaluation method of STS's integrated courses: The strict implementation of the “One File for One Student” system will truly implement the care for students and their holistic education.

  In addition, education is not only the responsibility of the school since we need the participation of parents. Principal David spoke with parents from home to school. Starting from his own parent-child relationship, David emphasized that children's growth requires a high-quality environment and challenges for the child’s mindset. The most important thing is that parents participate in the process of children's education and work together with the school to discover children's highlights and advantages.


体验活动

  当家长们在星空厅聆听时,孩子们同步参加了STS快乐体验活动。英数游戏、生物观察、科技制作、趣味体育、英语游戏、STEAM探索、艺术创意,有张有弛、生动活泼的课程让孩子们沉浸其中,记忆多多。

  While the parents were listening to the introduction, the children simultaneously participated in our STS experience activities. English and mathematics games, biological observation, technological production, fun sports, English games, STEAM exploration, and artistic creativity all featured.
